Henry Horton State Park Outing  

 

 

On the evening of Friday, July 24th, Troop 227 embarked upon its weekend outing to Henry Horton State Park down in Marshall County.  As we traveled south on Nolensville Road, we could see a storm front moving across the skyline, while the setting sun beamed  upon the rain clouds.  The net results produced a magnificent rainbow leading us to our destination!

 

Upon arrival, we waited in our cars a few minutes for the storm to move through before setting up tents.  Later that night, the clouds rolled away to show the sky full of stars!  This presented a great opportunity for scouts to learn how to navigate at night without a compass by locating the North Star.  

 

The next morning, scouts worked on their knot tying and lashing skills.  By lunchtime, the troop had built a camp gadget which they were most proud of! 

 

 

After lunch, the scouts participated in an orienteering course which led us to various points in the state park. 

 

Later that evening, the troop packed up to return home.  Everyone enjoyed their summer time camping trip, including the cold, air-conditioned ride home.  

 

 

Are you remembering to use your Kroger card?

 

We just deposited our SECOND check from our Kroger gift cards of $200+. If you’ve let your card go empty and not used it for 3 months, you’ll have to purchase a new card for credit to continue going to our troop. So it’s easier just to keep using it faithfully so the credit will keep flowing in!
