What Scouting Means to Me

To me, scouting means a time when I can come together with friends and learn important things.  These include such things as First Aid, how to find directions with a compass, cooking food, and an answer to the question, "What are knots good for anyway?"

It gives me a reason to go outside for a change and see what's out there too.  There's just something about gathering around a fire first thing in the morning with my friends that I really like.

Even though scouting does much more for me such as teaching how to lead or how to have good morals, these aren't what keep me interested.  Getting to plan a backpacking trip to the Smoky Mountains does.
