Horseback Riding

n January 6, 2006, Boy Scout Troop 227 set off to Mt. Juliet for a campout. It lasted only one night and the next day, but everyone who went had a blast! “They had a HORSE of a good time!” said Mike Vantrease, the Horsemanship Merit Badge Counselor. They learned how to control their horses and even got to gallop around a loop trail several times. “I thought it was really fun, and everyone will want to do it again!” said William, one of the scouts who earned the merit badge. In short, everyone had a great time, and no one wanted to miss it!

Congratulations

ustin was recognized recently as the top popcorn salesman in the Dan Beard District. He won an Ipod Shuffle. Way to go Justin! This now makes three years in a row that Troop 227’s top popcorn salesman has also been the District’s top popcorn salesman!

· Feb. 5 – Scout Sunday. No special functions planned. Each scout may observe the birthday of Scouting in his own way.

· Feb. 6 – Troop meeting, 6:30 PM. Class A uniform. Deadline to sign up for JLT.

· Feb. 11 – Junior Leader Training. 9AM – 4PM. Class B uniform.

· Feb. 13 – Troop meeting, 6:30 PM.

· Feb. 20 – Troop meeting. 6:30 PM.

· Feb. 27 - PLC. Shoney’s in Brentwood. 7:00 PM.

· June 25-30 – Summer Camp. Boxwell.
