2004 – A Look Back

T

roop 227 had many wonderful experiences in 2004 including Grimes Canoe Base, Boxwell Summer Camp, and Appalachian Trail.

M

ost scouts advanced one or more ranks and earned numerous merit badges.  Many more fun times await us in 2005. 

Promptness Is Appreciated

T

he Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters volunteer their time to lead Troop 227.  On several occasions parents have been late in dropping off or picking up their scouts.

W

e realize that sometimes these events cannot be avoided.  However, please consider that the scout leaders have already put in a significant amount of time preparing for the meeting or outing.  When the troop meeting or outing ends, the leaders are usually tired and ready to go home.  Please be considerate in the future and make every effort to drop off and pick up your scout on time.

Two-Deep Leadership

A

n important Boy Scout requirement is two-deep leadership.

A

t least two leaders must be present at all times before, during, and after a Boy Scout function such as a troop meeting or troop outing.

P

lease help us adhere to this requirement by not leaving your scout until at least two troop leaders are present.  This also means that at least two leaders must wait with your scout, if you are late picking him up.  (See previous article.)
