Court of Honor

O

n December 12, 2005, Troop 227 held its quarterly Court of Honor.  Landry was recognized for becoming a Life Scout.  Caleb was recognized for becoming a Star Scout.  Many merit badges and patches from troop outings were presented.  The refreshments were delicious.

Pascagoula Service Project

O

n Wednesday, December 28, fifteen people left the Crieve Hall Church of Christ with their destination being Pascagoula, Mississippi.  Their goal was to provide service and man-power towards the hurricane-caused disaster relief effort being provided by the Central Church of Christ, which is located in Pascagoula.

O

rganized and overseen by Boy Scout Troop 227, the trip turned out to be very successful.  The group worked continuously Thursday and Friday going to people’s houses and helping them with whatever was needed.  Their work consisted of various jobs such as pulling nails out of the framework of houses, scraping up flooring, sanding drywall after it had been hung, and installing insulation.

I

t was amazing to see the damage that had been caused by the hurricanes.  Houses had been flooded with as much as five feet of standing water.  Others were not so lucky and had been completely destroyed.  Those who are down there say that they are receiving plenty of supplies.  What they need most are people who are willing to help them rebuild during the next few years.

W
