Troop Trailer Overhaul
Jeff Osteen and Mark Summers
pulled off a massive overhaul of the troop trailer used for camping trips. Jeff
pulled the troop trailer over to his house and for the entire weekend, Their sons also helped work on cleaning, revamping and
installing a new shelving system so items are easier to find and reach. The
pictures below are before and after. Great job guys! We’ll remember your efforts
every time we dig into that trailer!

Summer Camp
As Troop 227 made its annual pilgrimage
up Hwy 109 to Boxwell Reservation, descriptive words
come to mind such as fun, excitement, swimming, shooting, crafts, ticks,
humidity, mosquitoes, and memories.
Our excitement grew as we walked
past the Stahlman Dining Hall and the Traders Post,
to arrive at Site #10 along the shores of Old Hickory Lake. You know the week
of camp has officially begun on Sunday afternoon when scouts in their Class A
uniforms are standing at attention awaiting the evening flag ceremony. While at
attention, you can hear at a distance the 40+ camp
staff members marching in cadence toward the flagpole like the cadets of West
Point.
On Monday, we were reminded that a
scout is prepared. The entire camp participated in an evacuation drill for
severe weather. Little did we know, this training came in handy when we had two
separate evacuations that evening because of storms. Our
campsite received some damage, but we were able to relocate to dry cots and
tents that night.
Without a doubt, our week at camp
paid big dividends by helping each scout develop life saving skills,
marksmanship, swimming, camping, craftsmanship, and personal growth.
Congrats!
Congratulations to Thomas for
being a part of Camp Stahlman's staff this past week!
Thomas is the first scout from our troop in quite some time
participate as a camp staff member. Congratulations, Thomas! We're proud
of you!!!
Are you remembering
to use your Kroger card?
Okay, I’ll admit I’ve forgotten to refill my cards on occasion and sometimes I get gas without using one! EEEEKKKK! But I always get back on track because I know the troop will benefit. If you’ve let your card go empty and not used it for 3 months, you’ll have to purchase a new card for credit to continue going to our troop. So it’s easier just to keep using it faithfully so the credit will keep flowing in!
We do still have some cards if you need one or have a friend, neighbor or family member who’d like to support us. If you’d like more information, please contact Mellie Brackett at 793-5462 or mbrackett@mac.com.
