hile helping my
son, Will, sell $2665 worth of popcorn, we met many people. As we conversed with each potential customer,
I was struck by how often they wished to relate their own connection to Boy
Scouts. We heard comments ranging from "My
son is an Eagle Scout" to "there is an Eagle Scout in my
neighborhood" to "I was in Boy Scouts". If they didn't volunteer how far they
advanced in Boy Scouts, I asked. I
noticed that in every case, if they reached the rank of Eagle they were proud
to announce it, however if they didn't reach the rank of Eagle, their eyes
would droop and they would announce sadly that they only reached the rank of
Second Class or Life or one of the other ranks.
I reassured them that this was nothing to be ashamed of.
Therefore, I have
concluded that reaching the rank of Eagle Scout is a life-altering experience
that can catapult young men into adulthood with a strong foundation for
reaching their potential for good works.
How much have you contributed lately to help a young man attain the rank
of Eagle Scout? Rededicate yourself
today. It will be time well spent.
Congratulations and Help

ithin the last
month, most scouts in our troop visited either the Brentwood City Council or
Tennessee State Legislature as they continued working on merit badges. Some merit badges, like these, require
homework, the same as school. It would
be very helpful if each scout’s parents worked with them to be sure their work
is completed on time.
