TLT/JLT

n February 22-23, 2008, Troop 227 conducted a combination training event consisting of Troop Leadership Training (TLT) during which all junior leaders were trained for their current leadership position and Junior Leader Training (JLT) which teaches general leadership skills. Fifteen of the troop’s eighteen registered Scouts attended and benefited from this essential training.

Adult Leadership Changes

fter some adult leader role reshuffling, Troop 227 now welcomes Tommy Primm as Scoutmaster and John Hammond as Troop Committee Chair. Andy Richter plans to continue on with the troop in a reduced role of Assistant Scoutmaster. Troop 227 appreciates the past and anticipated future service of these leaders.

Cades Cove

Roop 227 is planning a trip to Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains during March. Several Webelos Scouts and their fathers also plan to attend as guests of the troop. The troop plans to hike down to Abrams Falls. Hopefully, the wildlife will be close enough to view and enjoy but not be close enough to be dangerous!

· Mar. 3 – Troop meeting. 6:30 PM. Class A uniform. Deadline to sign up for April horseback riding outing.

· Mar. 8 – Beaver Day #1. Boxwell Reservation.

· Mar. 10 – Troop meeting, 6:30 PM. Scoutmaster conferences. Deadline to pay for April horseback riding outing. Cost is $20 per person.

· Mar. 15-16 – Great Smoky Mountains / Cades Cove troop outing.

· Mar. 17 – Troop meeting. Boards of Review.

· Mar. 24 – Troop meeting. 6:30 PM.

· Mar. 31 – PLC. Shoney’s in Brentwood. 7:00 PM.

Future Dates

· Apr. 4-6 – Horseback Riding.

· May 9-10 – Grimes Canoe Base.

· June 22-27 – Summer Camp at Boxwell Reservation.

· July 25-27 – Appalachian Trail.
