NAIA Pow Wow

P

lan now to attend the NAIA Pow Wow.  This is one of the few Boy Scout activities each year to which the entire family is invited.  More details are available by following the link on our troop website.  Let the Scoutmaster know if you wish to participate and earn Scout service hours.

Popcorn Fundraiser!

T

roop 227's largest annual fundraiser occurs in September and October when we sell popcorn to raise money to fund our next year of programming.  Unlike public schools which are mostly funded by the government, our entire budget must be funded each year through two fundraisers.  This year we are using the standard prize incentives in which a Scout receives a self-selected prize or gift card from Trail's End.

O

ur Popcorn Kernel, Jeff Osteen, recommends that selling $1,200 worth of popcorn will fund all of the expenses for an entire year for one Boy Scout.  Go out and sell, sell, sell!

Farewell, Troop Committee Chairman Truman Bean

Troop 227 has been blessed for the last two-plus years to have Truman Bean as its Troop Committee Chairman.  His leadership has helped the troop attain new heights.  He previously served the troop for three years as its Advancement Coordinator and Training Coordinator.  He will be taking on a reduced role in our troop.  Thank you, Mr. Bean!
