Cedars of Lebanon State Park Outing

 

On Friday August 21st, the troop packed up and drove to Cedars of Lebanon State Park.  It was a pleasant surprise to have evening temperatures in the 60s for a typical August weekend. 

 

Upon arrival, the younger scouts gained experienced of setting up tents and equipment at night.  Eventually, everyone was able to relax around the campfire, enjoying the cracker barrel.

 

The next morning, the younger scouts were cooking their breakfast on the open fire.  One scout said his scrambled eggs were “the best he’s ever had!”

 

 

After clean up, the troop went to the park stables to take the Horsemanship merit badge class.  They quickly realized the responsibility of owning a horse requires a lot of time and attention.  After a quick picnic lunch, everyone saddled up and road throughout the state park trails. 

 

Later that evening, the troop returned home with enjoyable memories of camping, cooking, and trail riding with one another.

 

The Scout House

 

We have received word that construction work around the Scout House is now complete.  The troop will not meet this Monday (Sept. 7th) on Labor Day.  Our next troop meeting will be September 14th (6:30PM) in the Scout House.  

 

Are you remembering to use your Kroger card?

 

We just deposited our SECOND check from our Kroger gift cards of $200+. If you’ve let your card go empty and not used it for 3 months, you’ll have to purchase a new card for credit to continue going to our troop. So it’s easier just to keep using it faithfully so the credit will keep flowing in!

 

We do still have some cards if you need one or have a friend, neighbor or family member who’d like to support us. If you’d like more information, please contact Mellie Brackett at 793-5462 or mbrackett@mac.com.
